Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about WidgetDash.

There are two ways to connect the WidgetDash app to your server:

  1. QR Code (recommended): Open the WidgetDash app, tap Scan QR Code, and scan the QR code shown in your dashboard at widgetdash.app. This automatically configures your server URL and API key.
  2. Manual setup: Open the app, tap Manual Setup, then enter your Server URL and API Key. You can find both of these in your account dashboard.

Once connected, the app will begin syncing your widget data immediately.

Home Screen widgets:

  1. Long-press on an empty area of your Home Screen until the apps start to jiggle.
  2. Tap the + button in the top-left corner.
  3. Search for WidgetDash in the widget gallery.
  4. Choose your preferred widget size and tap Add Widget.
  5. Tap the widget to configure which data source it displays, then tap Done.

Lock Screen widgets (iOS 16+):

  1. Long-press on your Lock Screen and tap Customize.
  2. Select the Lock Screen layout.
  3. Tap the widget area above or below the clock.
  4. Search for WidgetDash and select a widget to add.
  5. Tap Done to save.

If your widgets are not showing the latest data, try the following steps:

  1. Check your API key: Open the WidgetDash app and verify that your API key is correct. You can find your current key in your dashboard at widgetdash.app.
  2. Verify the server URL: Make sure the server URL in the app matches the one shown in your account dashboard. A trailing slash or typo can prevent connections.
  3. Check your internet connection: Widgets require an active internet connection to fetch updated data. Try opening a webpage in Safari to confirm connectivity.
  4. Force refresh: Open the WidgetDash app and pull down to refresh. iOS may also delay widget updates to conserve battery -- your widget will update within a few minutes.
  5. Restart the app: If the issue persists, force-quit the WidgetDash app and reopen it.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please reach out to us using the contact information below.
